happy 19th birthday rachel!

our rachel is becoming 19 this sunday! so we gave her an early celebration. such a baby. tho you always wind me up saying im an old lady. i stil love you. and mind you, this is the first birthday cake i have ever baked in mylife!

so we wanted to make it one-in-a-lifetime experience for our irish baby. we dressed her up in our proud malaysian baju kurung and brought her to have some malaysian cruisine in Little Fusion.

we kinda traumatised the british tastebuds by first giving her an iced-milktea (teh ais). lol. "it is realli sweet...and it shouldnt realli be cold..." commented our irish mate. LOL. see, our malaysian tea is apparently not the british's cup of tea. so ok, we gave her coke at the end. in dentistry we call it ACCLIMATISATION-- gradual exposure to a new environment and people to reduce level of anxiety and rejection.

we had cha kuey tiao and some other chinese dishes. irish baby loved them. i hope so lol. no spicy food allowed cause otherwise irish baby would be drinking water jar by jar, we definitely didnt wanna make her bloated with H2O.

and the cake, rachel i spent the afternoon baking it. tho it was not a surprise surprise, cause apparently i had to bake in the flat which is also your habitat. and had to ask you if it was ok to take the cake out from the oven before it got burnt cause you are my baking teacher. but c mon, tat was a cool cake lol.

it was such fun seeing how those british looking at her when we walked home. everyone was like giving her this what-the-hell look seeing a white girl in a long robe. but baby you were stunning!

hope you are stil coming to malaysia one day. this is a welcoming introduction just for you! happy birthday!

When we are in Malaysia we seldom wear our National outfit but when in other country, we gladly do so. Like my friend, the first time I saw him wore baju Melayu was in England, after that never again. I guess underneath us there is a sense to have a national identity, and we are proud of it. Good for you gal!
